(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 15 – In view of the group stage of the 2022 Finals of the Davis Cup tennis, scheduled from 13 to 18 September next on the fast indoor stadium of the Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno (Bologna), the captain of the national team Italian, Filippo Volandri, has summoned the following tennis players: Matteo Berrettini, Simone Bolelli, Fabio Fognini, Lorenzo Musetti and Jannik Sinner. The Davis Cup returns after 46 years in the city of Bologna, hosting one of the four groups of the final phase and will see four teams as protagonists: in addition to Italy, Argentina, Croatia and Sweden will be on the pitch. The return of the oldest world sporting competition for national teams to the Emilian capital coincides with a historic anniversary: this year marks the centenary of the first participation of the Italian national team in the Davis Cup.
