(ANSA) – GEDDA, AUGUST 17 – “I’m about to face an opponent who is certainly one of the best boxers including every weight category. If I lost, it wouldn’t happen against anyone, and it’s crazy to assume my retirement.” So Anthony Joshua replied to those who asked him for a comment on the rumors that the Englishman intending to abandon boxing in the event of a defeat, on the night between Saturday and Sunday, against Oleksandr Usyk in the rematch of the World Heavyweight World Championship, in Jeddah.
“If I lost to one of the absolute best in the world – said the London 2012 Olympian – I would have to say that I am leaving because someone like that has beaten me? But what’s the point of saying things like that?”.
“If people really want me to leave, then that’s fine.
I’m not begging anyone – added Joshua -. People always ask questions and are entitled to their questions but, as far as I’m concerned, I still want to compete. I love it. It’s challenging, but I love the challenge. Sometimes I wonder if I want to do it, it’s so hard. It’s not an easy job but I have the will, I have the strength to keep pushing “. (ANSA).
