(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 19 – A miserable day of satisfactions for Italy today at the European Beach Volleyball Championships that are taking place in Munich, given that the three teams still in the running have been eliminated from the event.
In the women’s draw, in fact, the adventure of Marta Menegatti and Valentina Gottardi in the continental review ends in the quarter-finals. Despite the 2-0 defeat (21-18, 21-18) against the Spanish couple, revelation of the Alvarez M./Moreno tournament, the Azzurri team was the protagonist of a well-played match and fought point to point. However, today’s setback does not cancel the good path of the Italians at their first participation together with the continental review.
In the men’s draw, however, the blues Paolo Nicolai and Samuele Cottafava finished in ninth place in the European Championships, after losing in the round of 16 to the Swedes Åhman / Hellvig 2-1 (21-15, 8-21.9-15 ).
