(ANSA) – SYDNEY, AUGUST 22 – Guus Hiddink, 75, already at the helm of Australia in the 2006 World Cup, where he was stopped in the second round by Italy, will return to the ‘Socceroos’ bench for a match in preparation for the World 2022, against New Zealand, where he will join the coach Graham Arnold. The Dutch technical expert, who retired in 2021, was invited to Australia to assist Arnold during the last home game before the World Cup in Qatar (20 November-18 December), against the New Zealanders, on 22 September in Brisbane.
Hiddink will replace Rene Meulensteen, Arnold’s usual right-hand man, who will be in Europe to see two of Australia’s Group D opponents at the World Cup, France and Denmark. (HANDLE).
