(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 23 – Benfica, Maccabi Haifa and Viktoria Plzen are the top three teams from the playoffs to qualify for the group stage of the Champions League.
The Portuguese beat Dynamo Kiev 3-0 at the ‘Da Luz’, repeating the 2-0 first leg win on the neutral pitch in Lodz.
The domination of the ‘encarnados’ was total, great applause from the players and the home crowd, after the final whistle, to the Ukrainian fans who had managed to reach Lisbon.
Maccabi Haifa grabbed the qualification at the expense of the Red Star. In tonight’s match in Belgrade the Israelis, who had won 3-2 in the first leg, drew 2-2 thanks to a daring own goal by Pavkov in the 90th minute.
Viktoria Plzen won a comeback, and at home, 2-1 against the Azerbaijani Qarabag after the 0-0 first leg.
Tomorrow the other three matches of these play-offs will be played to enter the Champions League: Dinamo Zagreb-Bodo Glimt (0-1); Trabzonspor-Copenhagen (1-2); Psv Eindhoven-Rangers (2-2).
