Sailing: Maxi Yacht and Swan in September on the water in Porto Cervo

(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 25 – Another intense September is expected in Porto Cervo: the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup is scheduled from 4 to 10, followed, from 11 to 18, by the Rolex Swan Cup, which returns at a distance of four years. Particularly awaited is the 32nd Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, in collaboration with the International Maxi Association (IMA) and Rolex, which records a successful registration with 50 participating boats. Four J-Class will be present, including Ranger. Among the fierce Maxi 72s, Dario Ferrari’s Cannonball will defend the title won in 2021.

Other prominent names: the Wally Cento Magic Carpet Cubed, the maxi racers Deep Blue and Rambler. The debuts of the mini maxi foiling FlyingNikka by Roberto Lacorte and that of the ClubSwan 80 My Song, by Pier Luigi Loro Piana are expected. The 21st Rolex Swan Cup will follow. Seeing over 90 boats parading between the islands of the La Maddalena archipelago will be a unique spectacle.

There will be eight classes in which the fleet of boats ranging from 36 to 120 feet will be divided. Among the various divisions, there will also be that of the ClubSwan 36 who will take part for the first time in the Rolex Swan Cup. There will then be nine iconic historical Swans, designed by Sparkman & Stephens: among them the Swan 43 Kokkola, which took part in the first Swan Cup in 1994. Following the victory in its division in 2018, Plis Play is back; among the new entries we find the ClubSwan 50 Moonlight, launched last spring. The Rolex Swan Cup will also mark the culmination of The Nations League 2022, the circuit dedicated to One Design, organized by ClubSwan Racing. The overall winner of the circuit, together with the individual winners of each of the four one-design classes, will be awarded at the Rolex Dinner Party on Saturday 17th. (ANSA).
