(ANSA) – BOLOGNA, 25 AUG – The 2022 edition of the Marco Pantani Memorial will take place on Saturday 17 September. The novelty of this year is represented by the starting point which will see all the preliminary operations (and the unofficial route) take place in Forlì, in the very central Piazza Saffi.
22 teams are enrolled in the competition organized by the Emilia Sports Group with the collaboration of the Panathlon Club Cesena and supported since the first edition by the Municipality of Cesenatico, including 11 World Team: Astana Qazaqstan Team, Bora-Hansgrohe, Cofidis, Ef Education- Easypost, Ineos Grenadiers, Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux, Israel-Premier Tech, Lotto Soudal, Movistar Team, Team Bikeexchange-Jayco and Uae Team Emirates. After the start from the center of the Romagna town, the group will reach kilometer zero accompanied by mini cyclists from the local youth clubs. Leaving Forlì, in the initial stages the runners will face the ascent to Rocca delle Caminate and then head towards the unprecedented ascent of Pieve di Rivoschio. Then you face a stretch that leads to the city center of Borello. Then the wide circuit of Montevecchio of km. 35.6 to be covered three times; this part of the route includes a 5 km climb with an average gradient of 6-8% and peaks of 13-14%. There is the ‘Pantani Monument’ at a height of 369 meters, the ‘roof of the race’. All three steps are valid for the GPM classification. At the end of the three laps, the race starts towards Savignano sul Rubicone and then passing in front of the Pantani house, in Valverde di Cesenatico for a first pass under the finish banner and covering a five-kilometer circuit to be repeated 4 times.
