Tennis: US Open; Medvedev and Nadal in front of everyone

(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 26 – The last Grand Slam of the season starts exactly like the first: without Novak Djokovic, who cannot enter the United States as an unvaccinated foreign citizen. However, there are many tennis stars on the court at Flushing Meadows, home of a US Open which, also considering Zverev’s forfeit and the recent results of the American Masters 1000, promises to be one of the most uncertain in recent years. At the top of the Snai blackboard for the favorite is Daniil Medvedev: the Russian, last year, in America broke Djokovic’s dream of closing the Grand Slam and now, without the Serbian, he has even more predictions and odds on the side of he. Medvedev’s second success in a row is worth 2.75, followed by two Spaniards: Rafa Nadal (already winner this year at the Australian Open and Roland Garros) at 5 and Carlos Alcaraz at 6. Immediately off the podium, at 8, Australian Nick Kyrgios, who after a career made of ups and downs seems to have finally found the continuity to express his infinite talent. It was not an easy start to the season on hard court for the Azzurri: both Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini were unable to express themselves at their best either in Montreal or Cincinnati, but that of Flushing Meadows is the tournament that three years ago consecrated Berrettini (capable to reach the semifinal), which on the Snai antepost blackboard for the winner of the title is at 25. Later on, the other Italian, Jannik Sinner, who starts at 15.

Lorenzo Musetti is at 150, Lorenzo Sonego at 250.

The women’s tournament, at least in the odds, has a queen announced, the Polish Iga Swiatek: the success of the number 1 in the world is played at 5, behind her the Romanian Simona Halep at 8. The Italians are more late: Camila Giorgi at 75, Martina Trevisan at 250. The US Open, however, will be the last tournament of Serena Williams’ extraordinary career: the odd, romantic, for a triumphant finish, is high (33), but Serena wants to say goodbye to tennis in the best possible way .
