Sailing: Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup from 4 September in Porto Cervo

(ANSA) – PORTO CERVO, 26 AUGUST – Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup from 4 to 10 September in Porto Cervo. And then from 11 to 18 we continue with the Swan Cup which returns four years later due to the forced stop for the pandemic. Much anticipation for the 32nd edition of the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup with 50 participating boats. Four J Classes will be present, including Rangers, whose last participation dates back to 2014.

Among the fierce Maxi 72s, YCCS partner Dario Ferrari’s Cannonball will defend the title won last year.

Other prominent names: the Wally Cento Magic Carpet Cubed and the Deep Blue and Rambler Maxi racers. The debuts of the mini maxi foiling FlyingNikka by Roberto Lacorte and that of the ClubSwan 80 My Song, by YCCS member Pier Luigi Loro Piana are expected.

Then the 21st edition of the Rolex Swan Cup, a biennial event celebrating the link between the YCCS, the Nautor’s Swan shipyard and the historic partner Rolex. Over 90 boats between the islands of the La Maddalena Archipelago. There will be eight classes in which the fleet of boats ranging from 36 to 120 feet will be divided and includes a wide range of models from the Finnish shipyard. Among the various divisions, there will also be that of the ClubSwan 36 who will take part for the first time in the Rolex Swan Cup. There will also be nine iconic historical Swans, designed by Sparkman & Stephens, among them the return of the Swan 43 Kokkola, which took part in its first Swan Cup in 1994. Plis Play is back, following the victory in its division in 2018, while among the new entries we find the ClubSwan 50 Moonlight, launched last spring.

The Rolex Swan Cup will also mark the culmination of The Nations League 2022, the circuit dedicated to One Design, organized by ClubSwan Racing. Closing of the season with Sailing and Golf, scheduled from 23 to 25 September: the points acquired on the green are added to those won at sea. (HANDLE).
