The launch of the 2022 World Cup is fast approaching, and with it, the fan frenzy continues to grow. Despite a very controversial competition in a country singled out for its lack of respect for human rights and the environment, the controversies do not prevent French football fans from preparing to support the Blues. In the four corners of France, supporters are impatient for the competition to begin.

In Lyon, football is already well anchored in the local culture. “Football first! I can’t miss this, impossible!” launches a Lyon supporter. The only problems for the latter, the period during which the World Cup takes place: a cold winter in Europe and a stifling heat in Qatar. “It’s a little disturbing because it’s Christmas, all that. It’s special to air-condition stadiums for a World Cup, but hey, we’re going to stop at sport and we’re not going to go any further. We don’t get too wet with that”, admits the Lyonnais, who hoped to see Benzema score “a lot of goals”. It is unfortunately missed, since the French striker and Ballon d’Or 2022 withdrew after a left thigh injury

“We are going to eat matches!”

“I can’t wait to watch!” In Strasbourg, the excitement is just as present. Fans want to believe it. “I think France can go to the final,” it is said in the streets of the Alsatian city. “We are looking forward to that, especially for the France team. Well after that we have a few injuries like Kimpembe, but hey we won Rabiot. Some already see the Blues going to the end of the competition. “France-Brazil I think for the final, it would be very very good. Go Blues!”

Finally, in Marseille, it’s the event of the year. Football in the blood, the Marseillais are in the starting blocks. “We’re going to have fun,” rejoices a supporter. “We can’t go there, but anyway we live the matches, we are all together, we live them and it’s great!” It is in front of her screen that the Marseillaise will enjoy the World Cup. “In fact, there, we are in front of the TV and ahead, we are going to eat matches!”

It is Tuesday that supporters from all over France will gather in front of their screens for the first match of the Blues, against the Australians.
