Polar bears continue to lose: 12 seconds before the end, they lose their victory

Things are still not going well for the Eisbären Berlin in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). On Sunday they lost 1:2 (0:0, 0:0, 1:1/0:1) at the Frankfurt Lions after a 1:0 lead after extra time. Giovanni Fiore put the Berliners in the lead, but twelve seconds before the end Frankfurt equalized through Dylan Wruck. In extra time, David Elsner then scored for Frankfurt victory. It was the third defeat in a row for the Berliners, who were at risk of relegation.

“If we manage to get a game like this over the stage – then that’s too puny in our situation,” said polar bear striker Frank Mauer. “But we will turn things around.” More than 1,000 Berlin fans were among the 7,000 spectators in the Frankfurt ice rink – but that didn’t help the Berliners either.
