Injured after 20 minutes of play against Montpellier on Wednesday (3-1), PSG striker Kylian Mbappé had to leave his partners by touching the back of his left thigh as the Parisians challenge Bayern Munich in 13 days in the Champions League. Sergio Ramos also left early after a head injury.

Paris SG striker Kylian Mbappé had a complicated evening on Wednesday in Montpellier despite the success of the Parisians (3-1). Kylian Mbappé was injured in the left thigh after 20 minutes of play on Wednesday, 13 days before the Champions League Round of 16 first leg against Bayern Munich. After a shock with the Montpellier Léo Leroy, the number 7 touched the back of the left thigh several times and ended up asking for the change. He was replaced by Hugo Ekitike.

Mbappé seems to be muscularly affected, the contact with Montpellier Leroy having touched the top of the right tibia. Mbappé therefore does not suffer from the shock. The broadcaster’s cameras showed him holding the back of his left thigh in the locker room hallways. This injury falls badly, less than two weeks before the return of the Champions League.

Sergio Ramos, also affected

Previously, Mbappé had twice seen Montpellier goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte push back his penalty to withdraw (8th and 10th minutes). A few minutes later the Spanish defender Sergio Ramos also left, victim of a concussion, replaced by Renato Sanches (31st). The Spaniard suffered a head-to-head clash with Stephy Mavididi.

But Parisian coach Christophe Galtier was reassuring at a press conference, saying he was not “too worried”. “It’s a contusion or a hematoma, we don’t know yet. Same as Sergio (Ramos, also injured, editor’s note), with the sequence of matches we don’t want to take risks with a very busy schedule, it doesn’t seem not very serious neither one nor the other. We’ll see,” he added.
