Füchse Berlin win in Lemgo, but lose Fabian Wiede

Fabian Wiede left the field without a word after an attack. The national player held his right knee with a painful face. From the 11th minute the Füchse Berlin had to do without the current captain at TBV Lemgo Lippe, but ultimately won the game with 28:27 (17:13).

The break in the course of the game was definitely noticeable after the loss of Wiede. After the Berliners had already been in the lead with five goals in the Lipperlandhalle, Lemgo then got better into the game and shortened the lead to one point within a very short time.

While the foxes tried to reconnect with the fast-paced initial phase, Wiede hobbled around off the field behind the goal net, tried to put weight on his leg – without any visible success. Nevertheless, the 27-year-old took a seat on the bench again, but the game went on without him. By the end of the first half, the foxes had worked out a 17:13 cushion.

For Wiede, the half-time break meant the opportunity to take a few steps on the field again and he tried to run out of the apparently muscular problems. However, he shouldn’t be physically active on this day.

Wiede also spent the second 30 minutes sitting on the sidelines and had to watch how the foxes made it unnecessarily exciting again. Because defensively there was a lack of willingness, in the attack the depth that would bring success.

But as has often been seen lately, the Berliners managed to win the match this weekend and also set a new internal club record with nine unbeaten games in the current season.

Nevertheless, the foxes did not feel like partying afterwards. After Paul Drux was out for the next four to six weeks, further minimizing the Füchse squad would not necessarily be conducive to the good run of the team. The same applies to the German national team, which will come together for a course in Düsseldorf on the weekend from this Monday to the day of handball. (Tsp)
