Dynamo Kyiv head coach Mircea Lucescu is a priority target for the French football club Nice. According to the Romanian edition of Prosport, Lucescu met with representatives of the Cote d’Azur team in Poland a few weeks ago.
“About two or three weeks ago, Lucescu met with emissaries of Nice in Poland. They presented the project to him, talked to him about the club’s philosophy and said they would like to start cooperation as soon as possible,” an unnamed source quoted Prosport as saying.
Lucescu, whose contract with Dynamo Kyiv expires in June 2024, did not immediately respond. He asked for a delay until the summer, explaining that he did not want to leave the Ukrainians in the midst of the war. Prosport tried to contact the mentor himself to get a comment, but failed to do so.
Nice are in 7th place in Ligue 1 with 44 points. To the fifth position, which provides entry into European competitions, the distance is 5 points. The club parted ways with Lucien Favre in the first week of 2023 after the team was eliminated in disgrace from the Coupe de France, losing 0-1 to a third-tier player.
