“He will reset the counters to zero” at the Bleues, assures Claude Le Roy about Hervé Renard

After resigning from his post as coach of Saudi Arabia, Hervé Renard should take the lead of the French women’s team. Good news for Claude Le Roy, friend of the technician and former coach of Togo. Present in “Europe 1 Sport”, he recalled the current construction site at Les Bleues.

Expected for several weeks at the head of the French women’s team, Hervé Renard should be officially appointed this Friday by the French Football Federation (FFF). After announcing his resignation from his post as coach of Saudi Arabia, the technician was “determined to return to France to lead a national team there”. Claude Le Roy, currently a member of the union of football coaches in France (UNECATEF) and former coach of Togo, is very close to the future coach of Les Bleues. Present in Europe 1 Sports (every evening from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.), he said he was happy for his “friend”.

Hervé Renard is “someone passionate about football”, deciphered Claude Le Roy at the microphone of Céline Géraud. From his new position as coach of the France women’s team, the former coach of Saudi Arabia “will make the most of it”. For Claude Le Roy, Hervé Renard “will bring his touch to him with his staff which is of a very high level”.

“Some players will become disillusioned”

Winner of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) with Zambia and then with Côte d’Ivoire, Hervé Renard remains to this day the only coach to have won two CANs with two different nations. But with the Blues, the task promises to be difficult. After going through a period of turmoil marked by the rebellion of some players towards former coach Corinne Deacon now landed, the coach will have to rebuild the team.

But Claude Le Roy is convinced, “some players will become disillusioned because he (Hervé Renard) will want to leave with young players who have the quality of speed. Some, who no longer wanted Corinne Deacon, are not necessarily going to be welcomed with open arms in this new team of France”, he assured before continuing: “He will play the best according to his design to him.”

Anyway, “he will reset the counters and resituate some girls a bit,” said the former Togo coach. The site is sizeable for the coach who will have a tight timing. And for good reason, the Women’s World Cup takes place from July 20 to August 20. But the technician likes a challenge. At the last World Cup, he had achieved the feat of beating the Argentinian world champions with Saudi Arabia.
