(ANSA-AFP) – ROME, NOV 08 – Eddie Howe is the new coach of Newcastle, the English club that has recently moved to a Saudi fund. Howe succeeds Steve Bruce (who left the club on 20 October), and has signed a contract until 2024.
After the many rumors of recent weeks about high-sounding names among coaches from all over Europe, the choice finally fell on the former Bournemouth coach.
“It is a great honor to become the manager of a club with Newcastle United’s stature and history – Howe’s first words – It is a very proud day for me and my family.
This is a wonderful opportunity, but there is also a lot of work ahead of us and I can’t wait to get on the pitch to start working with the players. I would like to thank the club owners for this opportunity and thank the fans of the club for the incredible welcome they have already given me. I am very excited to start our journey together. “
Howe was a long-time player and then manager of Bournemouth, a club he left last summer. Newcastle are still short of victories in Premier Leafue: so far they have collected 5 draws and 6 defeats. (ANSA-AFP).
