(ANSA) – ROME, NOV 13 – Fernando Alonso on Alpine was the fastest in the second free practice session of the F1 Brazilian Grand Prix, ahead of Max Verstappen on Red Bull and Valtteri Bottas with Mercedes. The Spanish former world champion set the time of 1’11 ” 238, leaving the Dutchman over eight tenths of a second and the Finn and all the other drivers, including Lewis Hamilton, fifth, by over eight tenths of a second.
Further back the Ferraris, with Carlos Sainz eighth ahead of Charles Leclerc, ninth. Antonio Giovinazzi finished ahead of the two Ferrari drivers with Alfa Romeo. Many drivers had their best times canceled for exceeding the track limit, especially at turn 4, including Leclerc himself and Kimi Raikkonen, who nevertheless finished tenth.
The sprint qualification will be held later, with Hamilton expected to start from pole position but is still awaiting the commissioners’ decision on a possible penalty for non-compliance by the DRS. (HANDLE).
