(ANSA) – ROME, NOVEMBER 20 – Max Verstappen was summoned by the commissioners with the hypothesis of having ignored the double yellow flags waved during his last lap in the qualifying of the Qatar GP, in which he obtained the second time behind Lewis Hamilton. The Red Bull Dutchman will have to present himself to the stewards at 13 local time, four hours before the start of the GP, and then wait for their decision, which could come close to the green light.
Right from the end of qualifying in the paddock there was discussion about the situation that occurred in Q3, when Pierre Gasly stopped on the finish straight due to the damage suffered by his Alpha Tauri in hitting a curb. Verstappen, engaged in the fast lap, did not notice or ignore the yellow flags displayed on his left, however, a signal not confirmed by the luminous panels, which require slowing down immediately. The stewards intend to come to a clarification on the matter, but if Verstappen were found guilty of ignoring the flags he would lose his time on the final lap and could even face a penalty on the grid.
