(ANSA) – ROME, NOV 22 – There are Roberto Mancini and Antonio Conte among the coaches and Jorginho among the players in the list of finalists for the ‘Best Fifa Football 2021’ awards whose names were announced today by the world organization of football.
Gianluigi Donnarumma is instead among the five selected (with Alisson, Neuer, Mendy and Schmeichel) for the best goalkeeper award.
The winners will be announced during the online ceremony to be held on January 17, 2022. Two expert groups – one for women’s football and one for men’s football – have chosen the nominees in each of the categories.
For the best footballer of the year award, in addition to Jorginho, Karim Benzema, Kevin De Bruyne, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski, Lionel Messi, Neymar, Erling Haaland, N’Golo Kanté, Kylian Mbappé and Mohamed Salah were selected.
Conte and Mancini will contend for the award of best coach Hansi Flick (German national team), Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), Lionel Sebastián Scaloni (Argentina national team), Diego Simeone (Atletico Madrid) and Thomas Tuchel (Chelsea). Voting for the fans, Fifa said, has already started on the World Football Federation website and “will close at 23:59 CET on 10 December”. In early January, FIFA will announce the three finalists in each of the seven categories.
In this regard, it should be noted that no representative of Italian women’s football is among the finalists for the awards for best player, best coach and best female goalkeeper. (HANDLE).
