(ANSA) – ROME, JAN 11 – The Italian Olympians Federica Pellegrini, Gianmarco Tamberi and Martina Caironi are among the group of international champions who have lent their faces for a video appeal to world leaders to give “free and fair” access to the vaccine to everyone around the globe. A few weeks before the start of the Beijing Winter Olympics, the message relaunched by the IOC is addressed to governments, foundations, philanthropists, health organizations and social enterprises to join forces in this commitment.

In the video, more than twenty champions stress the importance of staying united to continue to effectively fight the pandemic: “As athletes, we can unite the world through the power of sport. Now more than ever we are united to use that power of sport and of Olympic and Paralympic movement to help win the battle against Covif because we go faster, we aim higher, we are stronger when we are together “. “We have been given a way forward with a safe and effective vaccine that can help save precious lives and protect our friends … and our families. So we invite governments, foundations, philanthropists, health organizations and social enterprises to join hands in giving free and equal access to the vaccine to everyone around the world to commit our collective responsibility to protect those who are most vulnerable, because everyone on this planet has the right to live a healthy life. We are stronger together when we are in solidarity and take care of each other “. (HANDLE).
