Udinese: defender Benkovic hired

Sassoli, Tajani:

(ANSA) – UDINE, 13 JAN – Filip Benkovic is a new Udinese player. The Friulian club officially announced it in a note.

The defender has signed a contract that binds him until June 30, 2025, with an option for another season. Born in 1997, Benkovic grew up in Dinamo Zagreb, a true hotbed of Croatian football talent with which he made his debut in the first team in the 2015/16 season.

Summer 2018, for Benkovic, is that of the great leap in the Premier League. In fact, he was bought by Leicester with whom, until January, he played a game in the League Cup before moving on loan to Celtic. In Glasgow he finds continuity of employment and demonstrates his qualities, playing twenty league games, with two goals scored, four in the Europa League and two in the Scottish League Cup.

At the end of the year he returned to Leicester with which he struggled to establish himself, however, collecting a presence in the FA Cup and, then, in January he moved to the Championship, on loan, to wear the Bristol City shirt. In the second half of the season, he plays ten games and scores two goals, confirming his ability in aerial play.

In the 2020/21 season he is loaned to Cardiff first and to Leuven, in Belgium, then, before returning to Leicester, with whom he terminated his contract by consensus yesterday. (HANDLE).
