Long jump and spint: Ali Lacin attacks twice

The Berliner Ali Lacin qualified for the long jump and the 200-meter sprint at the Tokyo Paralympics. However, he doesn’t have a favorite sport: “I enjoy both of them just as much, although I’ve been doing the 200 meters for a while.” He still remembers exactly how he started the long jump in 2019: “My trainer at the time, Ralf Otto, came up with the idea. He said we can try it. And when my first jump was about five meters, without training, without technique, he said: ‘We can do something.’ “

With the new school year Menje is now in the 11th grade, the training takes place after class. The student has one day off each week. “Of course there are always points where you think about it: is it really that good to do both? The workload for two sports is extremely high, ”she explains. But she has never really thought about doing just one sport. “I really enjoy doing both and I also accept this stress a bit.” In cross-country skiing, Menje can look back on a fourth place (sprint) and two sixth places (short and middle distance) at the World Cup in Planica. But her focus is now entirely on Tokyo. “My main goal is to gain a lot of experience there. It is a huge honor for me to be able to take part in the Paralympics. I just want to do my best and show what I can do. “
