“I’m surrounded by super champions, so it’s fantastic”

“Jo”, also nicknamed “uncle” or “the old man” by his teammates, confided in the Eurosport microphone: “Everyone tells me: ‘it’s great, at 41’. But at 41, it’s difficult to remobilize every day. Yesterday I left a lot of energy. This morning I was quite tired, but I managed to remobilize myself a minute before the start, I was just good and ready to do the job I knew I had a good run but downhill you never know [si on va faire] first, second, third or even tenth. Today was a fairly regular race. I’m surrounded by super champions on the podium, so it’s fantastic.”

Johan Clarey also holds another record: he is the fastest man in the World Cup. In 2013, in Switzerland, it had reached a top speed recorded at 162 km/h.
