Scientists at Ohio State University have trained artificial intelligence to study the footage to save endangered species.
AI received millions of images endangered animals, made by scientists, camera traps, drones and even tourists.
The resulting data can now be extracted and analyzed to help protect the animals and fight their extinction.
The fact is that now out of more than 142 thousand species included in the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the status of half is unknown due to lack of data.
technology called Wildbook will collect pictures of, for example, African elephants and analyze the threat of their extinction.
The database contains more than 2 million frames of the same whales or dolphins. There are also separate bases for zebras, turtles or giraffes.
