After a series of rumors, Apple confirmed its first “Peak Performance” event of the year, on March 8 at 7pm Italian time. It will only be held online, to further contain the Covid infection curve. In all likelihood, the return to an in-person appointment will be, for the Cupertino giant, in June, at the WWDC 2022 developer conference. On that occasion, Tim Cook could provide some anticipation on rOS, the company’s dedicated operating system. to augmented and virtual reality goggles, expected between the end of the year and the beginning of 2023. The keynote on March 8, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, will instead focus on two products, the third generation iPhone SE and the iPad Air 5. Both represent low-cost versions of Apple’s smartphone and tablet line. The former should retain the same design as the iPhone SE launched in 2020: physical Touch ID button at the bottom and noticeable upper bezels. There will be news under the body, in terms of processor, memory and camera technology, with a plastic chassis, such as to keep the price competitive. The iPad Air 5, for the first time, could support the 5G connection, in the declination that joins the model with only WI-Fi. Among the updates, there is talk of a 12 megapixel front webcam with Center Stage functionality, perfect for video calls and remote meetings with the most popular apps. In addition to these two devices, Apple plans to reveal more. For example, a new 13-inch MacBook Pro laptop, equipped with the M2 home chip. As well as a Mac Mini computer with M1 Pro and M1 Max processors on board to replace the current Intel.
Not surprisingly, in November 2020, Apple confirmed its intention to replace the chips of all its devices with proprietary solutions, within a couple of years.
