You won’t see them right away on the French Amazon store (maybe never even), but the American giant has just announced two new televisions. Fire TV 4 and Fire TV Omni will be marketed in the United States at attractive prices. Both will carry Alexa and the Prime Video streaming service. According to The Verge, both televisions rely on technologies from TCL.
The Fire TV 4 is an entry-level model which comes in several sizes between 43 ” and 55 ”. The Omni is a high-end model that can reach a diagonal of 75 ”. Prices range from $ 370 to $ 1,100 excl., which remains very affordable with regard to on-board technologies.
The Omni indeed embeds most of the standards of 2021. The IPS LCD panel offers 4K definition with HDR10 certifications, HLG and Dolby Digital Plus (no Dolby Vision). The top of the range from Amazon is therefore far from reaching the level of the most premium models on the market (no high refresh rate, no HDMI 2.1). We will therefore not recommend it to gamers. But for its price, it remains very interesting.
The Fire TV 4, it takes the basics of the Omni but loses all HDR features. In addition, Alexa is triggered only from the remote control with this model.
Fire TV Stick 4K Max: the answer to the latest Chromecast
In addition to these two televisions, Amazon unveiled a new version of its Fire TV Stick, the small TV dongle competing with Google’s Chromecast. Good news, you can afford it in France for the modest sum of 65 euros, a price a bit more affordable than the competitor sold for 70 euros. It will be available on October 7 in France but pre-orders are already open.
This Fire TV Stick 4K Max (you can breathe) is a minor evolution of the previous model. We therefore find a 4K HDR10 + and Dolby Vision compatibility to the delight of moviegoers. The new dongle embeds a new ARM Mediatek MT7921LS chip allowing it to connect to WiFi 6. If you are equipped at home, the connection will therefore be faster.
The other major innovation is the integration of the function Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) which therefore automatically reduces latency. A little more developed above all for Luna, Amazon’s cloud gaming service.
The remote control also changes appearance. Now, of course, it welcomes buttons for quick access to Prime Video and Prime Music, but also to Netflix and Disney +. At last function Alexa Home Cinema allows you to connect Amazon speakers to your TV to enjoy a Home Cinema experience. For 65 euros, there is no better on the market.
