Nintendo Switch: a new controller is in the pipeline

Nintendo plans to unveil, within the next six months, a new controller for its Switch. Its identification number tends to suggest a controller reserved for a past toy library of the manufacturer.

While waiting for it to really realize that the Joy-Con Drift is not sexy, the Japanese giant Nintendo has registered the filing of a controller with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States.

If we know that it is a “game controller”, as reported by VGC, all other details remain secret for the time being. Nintendo has therefore called for compliance with a confidentiality period running until the announcement of the said product.

New Switch controller: to support a new game library on the NSO?

The confidentiality period would be 180 days and would have been in effect since September 16. The manufacturer explained to the FCC why it considered essential that the specifics of its controller not yet be revealed to the public.

“The request contains technical information which we consider to be trade and proprietary secrets. If made public, this information could be used to the detriment of the applicant in the market ”.

Since the device in question carries the identification number HAC-043, one thing is certain: it will join the Switch accessory family. Knowing that the product HAC-042 was a Super Nintendo wireless controller also reserved for the Switch, one wonders if this next controller is intended to accompany a new series of historic games on the Nintendo Switch Online.

Recent echoes seemed to predict the arrival of Game boy and Game boy Color games on the NSO, but would it be really relevant to offer a new controller for these titles when the configurations proposed so far appear to be quite ready for parties? with two buttons?

In the light of this question, another hypothesis can arise, that of the enthronement of the Nintendo 64 game library. A machine whose controller is still capable of causing sweating, but here too, the obvious is not also convincing: the attraction for 3D games not always well polished, and what is more in low number excluding Rare productions, does it exist among part of the Switch public?
