WhatsApp, 7 billion voice messages worldwide every day

Every day 7 billion voicemail messages are sent on WhatsApp worldwide. This was announced by the parent company Meta, which announces new features and options for checking the files sent and received.

“Voice messages have made users’ conversations even more personal. With voice, emotions come through more naturally than text messages,” the company explains. According to the surveys at the end of 2019, WhatsApp is used by over 2 billion users worldwide, who send more than 100 billion messages a day.

The list of innovations introduced in support of voice messages include playback in the background, to continue listening to voice messages even if the chat page has been closed, and pause and restart the recording, at different times. Furthermore, as has already happened with received audios, voices sent to friends can also be played at a faster speed than normal, at 1.5x or 2x. Other functions, although confirmed today, had already arrived in the various versions of iOS and Android. For example, playing the voice represented by a waveform and listening to the preview message, without having to send it first. The features will be available in the coming weeks for all users, both iOS and Android, with an update from their respective digital stores.
