Scientists have made an unusual discovery by studying the electrical signals that mushrooms send to each other. Turns out they’re talking to each other!
The study revealed bursts of activity resembling a vocabulary of up to 50 words, however, the core vocabulary does not exceed 15-20 words, and the average word length is 5.97 letters.
The data also showed that mushroom-like growths on rotten trees growing on top of each other generated the most complex sentences.
The researchers analyzed patterns in the electrical activity of four species – enoki, two-gill, ghost and caterpillar fungi, reports express.co.uk.
The results of the study suggest that mushrooms can use electrical transmissions to exchange information about food or damage. And bursts of activity are transmitted through fungal roots called mycelium.
Earlier we wrote that scientists have created a slug robot that can be launched inside a person. A new invention can come to the rescue if you accidentally swallowed some small object.
