NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter captured an unusual crater on the Red Planet, leaving researchers to puzzle over how it got its shape.

: A new discovery about Mars made scientists panic

Traditionally, craters are round, but this time the camera caught a crater slightly elongated to one side, writes cnet.com.

Some unusually shaped craters appeared as a result of the impact of a cosmic body at an acute angle, but in this case, scientists suspected a different reason.

After studying the image, they came to the conclusion that large blocks of Martian rock in the northeast and northwest corners collapsed towards the center of the crankcase, creating an unusual shape.

This could have happened as a result of a marsquake. Recently, scientists just received confirmation that Mars is alive.

Earlier we wrote that scientists have uncovered the secret of dark spots on the moon. Scientists for a long time could not understand why there are more craters on one side of the moon than on the other.
