(ANSA) – MILAN, APRIL 22 – Huawei does not give up and tries to relaunch with a new folding smartphone. As we read in a post from Weibo, the most popular social network in China, the Shenzen giant will hold an event at home on April 28 to announce the Mate Xs 2, the successor to the first flexible mobile phone model marketed globally. The company, over the years, has experimented with innovative technologies related to mobile, without breaking through the market, due to the United States ban which, since 2019, has prevented it from using software and hardware developed by American suppliers. According to the latest data from the analysis agency Counterpoint, in the last quarter of 2021, Huawei achieved a global market share of 4%. At its peak in mid-2020, it was just over 20%. Even the Mate Xs 2, like all mobile phones in the recent history of the group, will do without Google services, relying on a basic version of Android, on which it based its customized ‘Emui’ interface, which later resulted in a real own operating system, HarmonyOs. Not much is known about the smartphone’s technical specifications but sources close to the company speak of a Kirin 9000 processor, made by Huawei itself, and an updated photographic department. Furthermore, it seems that the technicians have worked hard to improve the hinge that binds the two parts of the display for a dual purpose. The first is to make it more solid and lasting over time, following tens of thousands of openings and closings. The second is to close the panel as much as possible, so as to reduce the joint space which, as a rule, allows dust to enter over time. Given the presentation in China, it is likely that the Mate Xs 2 will be sold first in the country and only later on the international market, including Europe. (HANDLE).
