The first ever crew of tourists who visited the International Space Station successfully returned to Earth. At about 20:05 Kyiv time, the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule splashed down off the coast of Florida.
A few minutes later, rescuers arrived at the capsule and pulled out four tourist astronauts.
Recall that the private crew of the AX-1 mission was supposed to return to Earth on April 19, but the return was repeatedly postponed due to bad weather in the splashdown area.
And then the tourists had to endure unpleasant moments in space, when the ISS had to dodge the debris of the Soviet satellite, formed after the use of space weapons by Russia.
This was the first fully civilian flight to the ISS by SpaceX. Previous visits by private astronauts or “space tourists” to the space station have been on government missions aboard Russian Soyuz spacecraft.
