Google Play, the Google app store, tightens up on security: announces a new feature that includes the “Data Security” section, where developers will be required to give users more information on how apps collect, share and protect data of people.
Developers are required to complete this section for their apps by July 20th. A year ago, Apple launched the ‘App Tracking Transparency’ system which makes the behavioral tracking of apps for marketing purposes more visible to all users, activities that users can choose to reject.
“People want to know for what purpose the data is collected and if the developer shares user data with third parties. Also, they want to understand how developers protect user data after an app is downloaded.” an official post – We’ve also made efforts to give everyone control of installed apps via easy-to-use authorization features. For example, if an app requests location access, people can quickly and easily decide whether to grant the permission once, only when the app is in use or always. For sensitive permissions related to camera, microphone or location data, users can open the Android privacy dashboard to verify access to data by apps “.
The Data Security section is already available on the Google Play Store, as app developers update their features or change their data management practices, users will be able to see the latest news.
