World password day, 23 million still use ‘123456’

‘World Password Day’ is celebrated around the world tomorrow, May 5, a world day created by Intel in 2013 with the aim of contributing to awareness of digital security. A very topical issue considering all the hacker attacks to which companies and users are exposed, as the daily news shows us.

The UK’s National Cybersecurity Center revealed that 23 million people worldwide have used the “123456” password. While according to a survey conducted in the United Kingdom by the Uswitch company, one in four users still write their keyword on a sheet of paper. The survey also shows that 30% of people use their year of birth and 39% use a pet’s name as part of their password. All information that hackers use in the first instance to enter the personal profiles of users.

The security company Check Point Software Technologies in view of the World Password Day outlines the five rules to follow to create a secure password: use a combination of characters, have a different password for many services, the longer it is, the more secure it is, change the password regularly, two-factor authentication essential.
