(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 16 – There are more than 12,000 new .it sites relating to the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) sector registered in 2021. This was communicated by the .it Registry, an Italian-registered web registry and body of the Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the Cnr (Cnr-Iit), which in 2017 established the permanent ‘ICT In the Net’ Observatory with the aim of analyzing the diffusion on the internet of the various sectors belonging to the area. .it registered in the ICT sector in 2021, with a clear prevalence of those relating to Telecommunications and Information Technology (90.92%).
These are followed by those relating to Commerce and Repair (5.64%), News and Blogs (2.63%) and Manufacturing (with less than 1%). The analysis – explains a note – shows that the presence of the ICT sector has been increasing on the Internet, with a growth of 150% in five years. Compared to the initial situation, it is also possible to note a greater growth in the Telecommunications and IT category (today at 70.6% compared to 47.4% in 2017), to the detriment of Commerce and Repair (today at 21% compared to 48 , 1% to the start overview). “ICT on the Net has become less ‘hard’ and more ‘soft’ in five years, less sales and trading of electronic components or machinery, more consulting and development of spaces and virtual communication systems – comments Maurizio Martinelli, first technologist of the Cnr-Iit – The microtrend, on the other hand, is the other side of the cake, which we could almost define a paradox: in 2022 those who could live on the Net are not on the Net. ” As of April 30 of this year there are 5,347 .it sites registered in the ICT sector, compared to the same quarter of 2021 – with 6,919 .it registered – there is thus a decrease of 22.72% in registrations.
“The hypothesis is that this is a normalization rather than a real decline – continues Martinelli – A physiological adjustment of the numbers compared to a two-year health emergency in which the Italian network in general has experienced a significant boost for all production categories and commercials and more “.
