Xbox Games with Gold: October 2021 games

We barely blink and the month of September is already coming to an end. Before inevitably entering the home stretch around 2022, you might as well feed your endless backlog of “free” games a little more via the subscription Xbox Live Gold et Xbox Game Pass Ultimate…

As always, four games are on the program for the month of October, and there will be something for everyone.

Here is the selection for the month of October 2021:

  • Aaero : Available from October 1 to 31
  • Hover : Available from October 16 to November 15
  • Castlevania: Harmony of Despair : Available from October 1 to 15
  • Resident Evil Code: Veronica X : Available from October 16 to 31

Music in the skin

The headliner of this monthly selection is therefore Aaero, an intense and highly stylized rail rhythm game from independent studio Mad Fellows. Its licensed soundtrack includes a plethora of artists from the electronic scene including Katy B, The Prototypes and more.

Still within the Xbox One catalog, Hover is part of a completely different genre but keeps the foot on the floor: this high-speed parkour game is largely inspired by the neo-pop atmosphere of Jet Set Radio, to the point of drawing its scenario opposing factions of young people rebels – the ably named Gamers – face the police force of a totalitarian state.

The selection made in Japan of the month

In terms of Xbox 360 games, the first choice will certainly delight curiosity lovers from Japan and fans of the Belmont family: Castlevania: Harmony of Despair is a separate episode in the Capcom franchise. Released in 2010 on the Microsoft console, this title features an all-star cast made up of a multitude of protagonists from previous episodes of the canon Castlevania (Alucard, Soma, Charlotte…) in a particular game mode focused on multiplayer and cooperation.

Here, no castle to explore from top to bottom, but successions of bosses to be defeated alone or with others – up to 6 players can travel through gigantic stages populated by enemies of all kinds.

Finally, another essential Japanese video game franchise closes the selection for the month of October: Resident Evil: Code Veronica X is presented here in its high definition version for the pleasure of some and the misfortune of others.

Between fan darling and ugly duckling, this episode still divides fans of the franchise – some regretting the many absurd choices of screenplay and staging, especially with regard to the main antagonist with particularly dubious writing … We will let players make their own opinion on this remaster.
