(ANSA) – MILAN, MAY 25 – As promised by Microsoft, by the end of the year more markets will be able to benefit from the integration of Android apps on computers equipped with Windows 11. The announcement came during the first day of Build 2022 , the conference that the Redmond group holds every year to unveil the news of its products that involve developers, companies and consumers. For December, in addition to the test phase that has already started in the United States, users in Italy, France, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom will also be able to update their PCs to see the Amazon Appstore appear, the company with which Microsoft has signed a partnership to bring Android applications to Windows 11. The Appstore itself does not differ much from the Play Store of smartphones with Google operating system, except for a more limited number of programs. But the compatibility work between Windows and Android goes even further. The subsystem of the PC platform is now based on Android 12L and this allows for better management of connected devices, even via cable, such as smartphones and tablets. Furthermore, once the Android apps make their debut on Windows 11, they will be able to directly manage accessories, such as those for home automation, connected to the same internet network as the computer. Thus, if a printer has been configured on the PC, an Android app will be able to see the device and use it, without the need for a previous configuration.

The improved integration will also allow Android apps to send notifications through the Windows interface, with the taskbar having the ability to show whether an app is accessing the microphone or the location of the device in use, just like on the smartphone. . (HANDLE).
