(ANSA) – MILAN, 01 JUN – Microsoft has presented its new branch of IT security products, with identity and access solutions, called Microsoft Entra. The company says that as security challenges have become wider, businesses need to provide targeted solutions that take digital identities into and out of organizations’ networks. The reference is also to the boom in smart working caused by the pandemic, which has made the distinction between devices used for individual purposes and for work less clear, thus increasing the risks of infection and violation by hackers. The Entra family includes services with which companies can better protect their users, without limiting their access to resources and content hosted online. For example, with Azure Active Directory-based authentication service and two new product categories – Cloud Infrastructure Entitlement Management (CIEM) and Decentralized Identity – designed to secure authentication, since credential theft is the primary goal of attackers as well as being, in percentage terms, the most used attack vector, according to Microsoft statistics.

Entra is able to verify all types of identities and to protect and manage their access to resources. Among the main features, there is the protection against any application desired by the company, the protection and verification of identity in hybrid and multicloud environments, the verification and management of permissions in multicloud environments and the simplification of the user experience, with the ability to define intelligent access rules in real time. According to the Dell technologies Global Data Protection Index research at the end of 2021, over 90% of Italian companies had, during the last year, damage related to the loss of their data. A trend higher than the European average, stopping at 81%.
