(ANSA) – MILAN, 09 JUN – Twitter, waiting to know its future, pushes on eCommerce. It is experimenting with sending notifications with which users can be notified of the launch of new products by brands on the platform.
The feature, called Product Drops, was made official by the microblog, which has Dior and Home Depot among the first partners of the initiative, departing from the United States.
Brands will post sales previews online, as tweets, to be concluded on their respective e-commerce sites. Product-related tweets behave like other posts on the platform and can be retweeted, bookmarked and shared. Users who agree to receive reminders from companies will see a notification 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time for the sale to begin. At that point, the reminder button will change to “buy on website”.
Other platforms, like Instagram, already integrate similar functions with businesses that can send product launch reminders to followers. The social network owned by Meta goes even further by dedicating a specific menu to shopping, with a real showcase for sellers and buyers. While on TikTok it has a similar strategy to this on Twitter, with the in-app purchase features eventually linking to the retailer’s site.
At the moment, the Product Drops feature is only available to US users who use Twitter in English on iOs.
