You will no longer lose your AirPods Pro and AirPods Max

Apple has just deployed new firmware for AirPods Pro and the AirPods Max. It offers a notable novelty that should make a lot of people happy.

Locating is a formidable tool, and extremely effective. Not content with allowing us to find a lost iPhone, iPad or Mac, it can even now help us keep an eye on our keys or our bags thanks to these good old AirTags.

Yes, Locate is very convenient, and it will become even more so thanks to new firmware deployed on AirPods.

Locate will allow you to find your AirPods

This new firmware will indeed make AirPods Pro and AirPods Max compatible with Apple’s location service.

No need to jump on the service, however, because the function is not yet available everywhere. It will indeed be gradually deployed on the brand’s headphones. And for it to be, it will of course be necessary for them to be connected to the mains, the procedure being completely automated for the rest.

Once the expected firmware has been deployed, we will therefore see it appear on the Locate our accessories service. It will then be possible to find them if we lose them… or if they are stolen.

Not all models will be supported

If the initiative is commendable, there is still one limitation: this function will only be supported on AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, and not on AirPods 2. It’s a bit of a shame, but this also augurs well for an upcoming presentation for AirPods 3.

This firmware could indeed be an opportunity for the firm to prepare the ground for this new model.

Good news though, Find My will also allow you to report AirPods as lost. In this case, if a person finds them later, they will have your contact details and can therefore contact you to bring them back to you.
