The National Assessment and Certification Center (Cvcn) based on the Certification and Supervision Service directed by Andrea Billet is now operational at the National Cybersecurity Agency. The CVCN will have the task of assessing the security of ICT goods, systems and services intended to be used in the context of the National Cyber Security Perimeter.
The assessment procedure may include the execution of hardware and software tests on the components of the supply. In this process, the Assessment Centers (CVs) at the Ministries of Defense and of the Interior will refer to the CVCN and will be able to make use of the support of a network of accredited test laboratories (Laps) which will be regulated by a specific Decree being published. in the Official Gazette. In addition, the National Assessment and Certification Center will play a technical support role for the activities related to the exercise of the “Golden Power” special powers in the 5G field. In particular, the Cvcn will operate both in the preliminary phase, in support of the coordination Group, and in the monitoring phase, as the body used by the Committee responsible for this purpose. The Center can already count on the technical personnel units that formed the initial nucleus of the National Cybersecurity Agency and on those recently transferred from the Ministry of Economic Development. In the coming weeks, the staffing will be further strengthened with the recruitment of experts who have passed the tests of the competition in progress. In fact, this first phase of recruitment by the Agency had as its priority objective precisely that of hiring personnel falling within the profiles intended for the activities of the CVC (certifying / inspectors, hardware and TLC technicians, software technicians and cryptographers).
