The United States of America continues to send weapons to Ukraine so that our country can resist the Russian invaders. It became known that Ukraine will receive two NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems, four additional anti-artillery radars and up to 150,000 155-mm artillery ammunition.

As noted, NASAMS (Norwegian Advanced Surface to Air Missile System) is a mobile Norwegian anti-aircraft missile system. It is designed to combat maneuvering aerodynamic targets at low and medium altitudes. The complex was developed by the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace together with the American company Raytheon.

At the same time, work on the creation was carried out in the early 1990s, and the complex itself was adopted by Norway in 1994.

Interestingly, tests have shown that the system can be used to destruction of cruise missiles.

Features NASAMS:

• range of destruction (depending on the missiles used) can be from 20 to 180 km: NASAMS – 20 air defense systems (AMRAAM ER – 40 missile);
• range of destruction of aviation versions of missiles: AIM-120A / B – 55-75, AIM-120C-5 – 105, AIM-120C-7 – 120, AIM-120D – 180;
• defeat height – up to 21 km;
• the probability of hitting a target with one missile is 0.85;
• reaction time – 10 s;
• time of transfer from combat position to marching position – 3 minutes (possibly up to 1.5);
• transfer time from traveling to combat position – 15 minutes;
• maximum speed of the hit target – 1000 m / s;
• maximum rocket flight speed – 1020 m / s;
• mean time between failures – 300 hours.

Earlier, military expert Oleg Zhdanov also stated that Ukraine would receive NASAMS complexes as part of military assistance, and said whether this would help Ukraine.

“It will help, it’s just a question of their number. We have the largest country in Europe, and we need not dozens, but hundreds of these systems to close cities. But in principle, if at least a few dozen are delivered, we will be able to make such a kind of “air fence”. Arrange them so that they at least thin out the rows of missiles during a mass strike, and intercept them in a single strike. They have a sufficient height, 16 km, and a short range, 40 km. But the reaction time of the system is so high, that it can also handle supersonic missiles,” he said.

Also, the Segodnya website wrote that the United States plans to announce the purchase for Ukraine of an improved medium-range and long-range anti-missile and air defense system.
