Ukraine continues to strike at the Russian invaders using new Western equipment. In particular, ultra-modern German SMArt homing shells began to destroy the tanks of the “Center” group of invaders. For the first time in the world, the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully used these projectiles and gained a significant advantage thanks to NATO’s high-precision intelligent weapons, which Russia is not capable of developing.

Journalist Yury Butusov announced this on his Facebook page.

The site “Today” told what is known about these shells.

“Does everything himself”

As noted, the SMArt 155 is a German high-precision 155 mm cluster artillery projectile designed to fire at long distances and destroy armored vehicles from the upper hemisphere. SMArt 155 contains two cluster submunitions with HEAT warheads.

The principle of operation of the 155 mm SMArt 155 artillery shell:

where:

1 – a cluster projectile is fired in the same way as usual;

2 – the projectile flies in the air along the usual ballistic trajectory;

3 – on a given section of the trajectory, a special mechanism (expelling charge) separates the combat elements from the container;

4 – cluster submunitions separated from the container fall down;

5 – to stabilize in flight and slow down, cluster submunitions can throw out parachutes, ribbons, petals, etc.;

6 – anti-tank cluster submunitions can use special mechanisms to search for targets and be activated at a given distance from them. High-explosive fragmentation – explode on contact with the surface, incendiary – engage and burn during the fall.

According to Yuri Butusov, a 155 mm SMArt projectile is fired at the coordinates of enemy armored vehicles and then “does everything by itself.”

At a certain height above the target, the projectile explodes and shoots two combat submunitions on parachutes that have their own microradar and infrared sensors to search for armored vehicles. After identifying the target, a hypersonic shock element is fired at it, hitting the combat vehicle from above.

“The speed is such that even if Russia puts its Arena-M active defense system on the tanks, their characteristics will not allow them to intercept the attack,” the journalist wrote.

Also on July 2, the Armed Forces of Ukraine published a video showing how Ukrainian soldiers destroyed the Russian Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system. According to Butusov, it was destroyed using a new SMArt projectile.

The Segodnya website wrote that the United States will transfer two NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine. We also wrote about the American HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, which are already hitting the invaders with all their might, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny showed the bright work of the Polish “Crabs” at the front.
