(ANSA) – ROME, JUL 19 – EssilorLuxottica and the Politecnico di Milano set up the first ‘Smart eyewear Lab’, a joint research center to design the smart eyewear of the future. The project involves an investment of over 50 million euros and the use of over 100 researchers. The laboratory, which will be built inside the future Parco dei Gasometri, in the Bovisa area of ​​Milan, will host research and development activities for the next generation of connected eyewear, integrating digital technologies with bioengineering, physics of matter and AI skills. The agreement was announced in the presence of the Minister for technological innovation and digital transition, Vittorio Colao, the Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, the President and CEO of EssilorLuxottica, Francesco Milleri, the rector of the Milan Polytechnic, Ferruccio Resta, of the Councilor for Education, University, Research, Innovation and Simplification of the Lombardy Region, Fabrizio Sala.
