(ANSA) – MILAN, JUL 21 – Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook-Meta, announced that the company is introducing a new dynamic search and map experience on Instagram. The novelty will allow users to browse the most popular marked locations around them and filter results based on specific categories including restaurants, bars and beauty salons. Prior to this update, Instagram maps simply showed the location tag of posted content. In fact, with the update, the service is inspired by Google Maps, trying to garner the interest of even older users, who seek advice on social media on places to visit, especially during the holidays. Unlike the competition, Instagram maps are naturally enriched with information that comes from users who have visited particular places, posting photos and videos about it. Whether it’s commercial activities or natural beauty, just click on a point of interest to browse the best content about it. “We are introducing a new searchable map on Instagram,” explained Zuckerberg, “now you can discover popular local businesses nearby and filter them by category.” To identify the new function not a dedicated button but the position tags in the posts of the bulletin board or in the stories. Whenever a friend tags a location or uses a hastag to underline it, such as #Rome, clicking on it will open the map with the points of interest nearby. You can also share places via direct messages to friends or groups. Also, if your profile is public, you can use location tags or stickers in your content to make the map appear for others to see automatically. Snapchat offers a similar feature, which allows you to post stories attached to a specific location. (HANDLE).
