There is a record! 90-year-old actor successfully flew into space on a billionaire’s ship (video)

Blue Origin of American billionaire Jeff Bezos successfully launched the second manned flight of the New Shepard rocket, and actor William Shatner set a new space record

The New Shepard makes a successful flight

The flight lasted about 11 minutes. During this time, the capsule has risen to its maximum height above the Karman line, where space officially begins – it is located at an altitude of about 100 km above sea level. At this moment, the crew was in zero gravity.

As the capsule sailed through space, the New Shepard booster returned to Earth via a vertical landing at the Blue Origin landing site. It looks cool!

Then, with the help of parachutes, the capsule successfully landed in the desert. On the ground, the crew was congratulated on a successful mission and sprinkled with champagne.

This was the second manned flight of the New Shepard rocket. The first took place 12 weeks ago and was attended by Bezos himself.

Famous actor William Shatner has joined the crew today. He is best known for playing Captain James T. Kirk, commander of the USS Enterprise in the original Star Trek series from 1966 to 1969. He also starred in seven Star Trek feature films from 1979 to 1994.

Shatner became the oldest person in space… The 90-year-old actor has broken the 82-year-old Wally Funk’s record for being in space on the previous New Shepard mission.

Together with Shatner, Blue Origin’s vice president of flights took part in the NS-18 mission Audrey Powers, Vice Chair for Life Sciences and Healthcare of the French software company Dassault Systèmes Glen de Vries and co-founder of Earth observation company Planet, Chris Boshuizen.
