(ANSA) – MILAN, AUGUST 24 – Hundreds of reports from users who, in Italy and abroad, saw their Facebook message boards full of posts from unknown people this morning. The issue was also reported via Twitter with the hashtag #facebookdown. In reality, more than a real disservice, it seems to have been a malfunction of the algorithm that regulates and organizes the contents on the ‘feeds’, the message boards, of the subscribers. “We know that some people are having problems with their Facebook Feed. We are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience,” a spokesperson for Meta said.
There are also many reports on Downdetector, a site where it is possible to indicate various problems related to web services. Most of the reports report the appearance of posts from famous people who do not follow themselves and messages of greetings for users who are not part of their network of friends. In some cases, posts from public groups were also displayed in the main feed, which even if followed should not be shown on the main page of the social network. The problem is now gone, with the message boards again responding to subscriber links. (HANDLE).
