DOOM is now playable… on Twitter

DOOM is everywhere, and especially where you don’t expect it: Id Software’s famous FPS is now playable not on yet another console or electronic device, but on the social network Twitter.

The account Tweet2Doom Thus offers users of the site to embark on remote sequenced games a bit like an epistolary chess game … Except that instead of horsemen and buffoons, it’s up to cacodemons and other barons of Hell to lead the dance.

Tweet Me Plenty

It will nevertheless be necessary to plan its actions before being able to embark on this DOOM from a distance. As explained in the pinned tweet, you must write commands directly in response to the tweet from a pre-established selection in order to control the DOOM Guy.

In return, the tweet sends a 10 second video illustrating the actions taken by the player for a more or less happy result, given the difficulty of the task. The thread will then become, in a way, the part of each user and makes it possible to follow their progress without difficulty. The completed levels will then be compiled into a single video.

Obviously, the experts at DOOM have already started speedrun—Some users have already completed the first level, the famous E1M1, in 11 seconds high. A run virtual which commands respect… But it remains to be seen if these talents can be applied in the following levels. In the meantime, numerous attempts abound at every moment on the Twitter account for just as many variable performances.

We can’t escape Hell

Tweet2Doom is only the last of the long list of media, virtual or real, on which DOOM has been unofficially “ported”. Whether it’s a refrigerator screen or an emulated version of Windows 95 in Minecraft, Id Software’s hit is everywhere lines of code are executable.

For those who want to browse the episodess Knee-Deep in the Dead up to Thy Flesh Consumed on slightly more conventional platforms, DOOM is available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and, of course, PC consoles.
