Samsung announces the Galaxy Book3 Ultra, a competitor to the 16” MacBook Pro

While it is number 1 in the smartphone market, Samsung is largely overtaken by Apple when it comes to computers. However, the Korean giant continues to offer new products with interesting features. And during the presentation of its new high-end smartphones, the Galaxy S23, Samsung also unveiled a brand new series of laptops: the Galaxy Book3.

In all, Samsung offers 5 new models. But the most interesting (and most expensive) is the Galaxy Book3 Ultra which, with its screen size and features, competes directly with the 16-inch MacBook Pro. Moreover, the design of this PC could remind some fans of the Apple brand of MacBooks. The Galaxy Book3 Ultra weighs 1.79 kg and is 16.5 mm thick.

An AMOLED screen and 120 Hz

And of course, Samsung has put the package on the screen, since this Ultra model has a WQXGA and Dynamic AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz, an aspect ratio of 16:10. In terms of fluidity and resolution, you should therefore be fully satisfied. And to ensure good performance, Samsung offers a 13th generation Intel Evo processor combined with a dedicated graphics card. You will either have an i9 with an Nvidia RTX4070 or an i7 with an RTX 4050.

In other words, Samsung offers a monster that should be suitable for those who need to use image processing software, for example. On the other hand, the Galaxy Book3 Ultra is expensive. The i7/RTX 4050 model costs €3499, while the i9/RTX 4070 model costs €3899. It will be possible to pre-order this PC from February 1 to 16. At Samsung, the pre-order offer allows you to have double the storage memory, while at its partners, you can get a free monitor.

A complete series

Note that in addition to this Ultra model, Samsung also offers the Galaxy Book3, the Galaxy Book3 Pro, the Galaxy Book3 360, as well as the Galaxy Book3 Pro 360. The former is the cheapest model, with a price of 1,299 euros for the i7 version with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. On this one, you will be satisfied with an FHD LCD screen, while the rest of the series benefits from AMOLED technology.

The Galaxy Book3 360, on the other hand, stands out thanks to its 2-in-1 design, which also includes the S Pen stylus. There is also the Galaxy Book3 Pro, an intermediate model which allows you to take advantage of a Dynamic AMOLED screen with a rate of 120 Hz. And if you need this Pro model, but with a 2-in-1 format, Samsung also offers the Galaxy Book3 Pro 360. This one has more or less the same specs as the Pro model, but it also has a convertible touchscreen tablet that supports the S Pen stylus.

With this complete range, Samsung probably hopes to satisfy all needs. Note that all models in the series use 13th generation Intel processors.
