40% of children, between 5 and 10 years old, interviewed by Digital Education, admit that they would share data and personal information online, even to strangers. The risk is not only hypothetical: 36% said they had received proposals for games or dangerous challenges on the internet from strangers. The cybersecurity company Kaspersky commissioned the survey involving a sample of 1,833 Italian children to Digital Education.

The survey, conducted between May and October 2021, aimed to analyze the habits of the ‘alpha’ generation regarding the use of technological devices and their awareness of the risks they could run into while surfing the net. 88 Italian schools, part of Kaspersky’s Digital Security project, collaborated in the survey. According to the analysis, Italian children are accessing digital devices at an increasingly younger age. 55% in the reference range between 5 and 10 years already own a personal device and 20% use it for more than two hours a day. When the young respondents were asked what they like most about the digital tools they have at their disposal, 34% of them said that, thanks to the network and technological devices, they are able to enter a personal world, in which they feel good. and at ease. The possibility of meeting new friends and sharing their days is, however, the reason reported by 41%. Finally, 19% recognize in these devices the possibility of learning new things, while only 6% do not like to use them. (HANDLE).
